Description
History:
Lagavulin released the 8 Year Old in 2016 to commemorate Alfred Barnard, who praised an 8-year-old Lagavulin during his 1880s distillery visit. It captures the house style in a younger, more vibrant form.
Production & Maturation:
Made from heavily peated malt, distilled in copper pot stills, and matured in oak casks for 8 years. Compared to the 16-year expression, it is younger, brighter, and more intense.
Aroma:
Powerful smoke and peat, with fresh citrus notes, sea salt, and a touch of vanilla—sharper and brighter than the 16 Year Old.
Palate:
Bold and punchy on entry, medium-to-full body, with intense smoke, hints of lemon, black pepper, and malt sweetness.
Finish:
Long finish with lingering smoke and peppery spice, ending dry and crisp.
